Crochet Pattern – Little Bunny Hat

 

PATTERN – Little Bunny Crochet Baby Hat

The pattern is written in one size only and will fit up to 6 months old baby.

You will need:

• crochet hook: 4 mm (G/6)
• yarn needle
• stitch markers
• yarn:  C1) Four Seasons Gründl Happy yarn (color 30,100% Nylon (Polyamide), 100 g), C2) Four Seasons Gründl Florida (color dark violet, 100 % cotton yarn, 50 g) and C3) Drops Paris (light violet, 100% cotton yarn, 50 g).

Gauge: 18 sts and 14 rows in hdc measure 4 x 4 inch (10 x 10 cm).

Stitches:

• ch – chain
• ss – slip stitch
• sc – single crochet
• hdc – half double crochet
• hdc2tog – join two hdc sts together
• st/ sts – stitch/ stitches
• FPhdc – front post half double crochet

All of my patterns are written in standard American terms.

Do not count the chain or ss stitch as a stitch at the beginning/end of the round.

HAT

Start with the C1.

Chain 56. Join the round into the first chain with the ss. Make sure you do not twist the chain before joining it. Ch 1.

Round 1 (C1): Hdc 56. Join the round with ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 56 sts.

Round  2 – 3 (C1): Repeat (Fphdc into the first 2, hdc into the next 2) 14 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn.= 56 sts.

Round 4 – 5 (C1):  Hdc 56. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 56 sts.

Round 6 – 8 (C1): Hdc 56. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 56 sts.

Round 9 (C1):  Hdc 56. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 56 sts.

Round 10 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 6) 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 49 sts.

Round 11 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 5) 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 42 sts.

Round 12 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 4) 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 35 sts.

Round 13 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 3) 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 28 sts.

Round 14 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 2) 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 21 sts.

Round 15 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 1) 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 14 sts.

Round 16 (C1): Repeat hdc2tog 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 7 sts.

Leave a longer tail for sewing.

Now take the yarn needle and the tail and join all the stitches together. Fasten off.

EARS

Each ear is made of two parts. We will call it front and back part. The front part is made with C3 yarn and back part of the ear is made with C1 yarn.

You will need two ears.

Front part

Chain 20. Start in the 2nd chain fromthe hook.

Row 1: Hdc into next 5. Dc 13. Work 8 hdc into the same stitch. Continue on the other side of the chain. Dc 13. Hdc 5. Fasten off.

Back part

Chain 20. Start in the 2nd chain form the hook.

Row 1: Hdc into next 5. Dc 13. Work 8 hdc into the same stitch. Continue on the other side of the chain. Dc 13. Hdc 5. Ch 1. Turn.

Row 2: Hdc 44. Fasten off.

Take the yarn and a white threat and sew the front and the back part together.

 

BOW

Chain 28. Join the round into the first chain with the ss. Make sure you do not twist the chain before joining it. Ch 1.

Round 1 – 4 : Sc 28. Join the round with the ss into the first stitch of the round. Ch 1. Turn.

Round 5: Sc 28. Join the round with the ss into the first stitch of the round. Leave longer tail for sewing.

Now take the yarn and make a few rounds around the middle part of the bow and make a knot.

Sew the ears on the top of the hat. Attach the small bow in front of the ear and you are done.
