Evil Minion Inspired Crochet Baby Hat

Hello my lovely crocheters!

CROCHET PATTERN: Evil Minion Inspired Crochet Baby Hat

Sizes:

• 0 – 6 months (A – 15 cm, B – 13 cm)
• 6 – 12 months (A – 17 cm, B – 14.5 cm)
• 12 – 24 months (A – 19 cm, B – 16.5 cm)

You will need:

• crochet hook: 4 mm (G/6)
• yarn needle
• stitch markers
• yarn: DK weight 100% cotton yarn in violet (C1), gray (C3), black (C2) and white color (C4), Chunky weight yarn in light violet (C5)

Gauge: 18 sts and 14 rows in hdc measure 4 x 4 inch (10 x 10 cm).

Stitches:

• ch – chain
• ss – slip stitch
• sc – single crochet
• hdc – half double crochet
• hdc2tog – join two hdc sts together
• st/ sts – stitch/ stitches
• FPhdc – front post half double crochet

All of my patterns are written in standard American terms.

You will work in rounds. Do not count the chain or ss stitch as a stitch at the beginning/end of the round.

SIZE 0 – 6 months

Start with the C1.

Chain 56. Join the round into the first chain with the ss. Ch 1. Make sure you do not twist the chain before joining it.

Round 1 (C1): Hdc 56. Join the round with ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 56 sts.

Round  2 – 3 (C1): Repeat (Fphdc into the first 2, hdc into the next 2) 14 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn.= 56 sts.

Round 4 – 5 (C1):  Hdc 56. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 56 sts.

Round 6 – 8 (C2): Hdc 56. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 56 sts.

Round 9 (C1):  Hdc 56. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 56 sts.

Round 10 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 6) 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 49 sts.

Round 11 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 5) 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 42 sts.

Round 12 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 4) 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 35 sts.

Round 13 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 3) 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 28 sts.

Round 14 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 2) 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 21 sts.

Round 15 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 1) 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 14 sts.

Round 16 (C1): Repeat hdc2tog 7 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 7 sts.

Leave a longer tail for sewing.

Now take the yarn needle and the tail and join all the stitches together. Fasten off.

SIZE: 6 – 12 months

Start with the C1.

Chain 60. Join the round into the first chain with the ss. Ch 1. Make sure you do not twist the chain before joining it.

Round 1 (C1): Hdc 60. Join the round with ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 60 sts.

Round  2 – 3 (C1): Repeat (Fphdc into the first 2, hdc into the next 2) 15 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn.= 60 sts.

Round 4 – 5 (C1):  Hdc 60. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 60 sts.

Round 6 – 8 (C2): Hdc 60. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 60 sts.

Round 9 -10 (C1):  Hdc 60. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 60 sts.

Round 11 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 8) 6 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 54 sts.

Round 12 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 7) 6 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 48 sts.

Round 13 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 6) 6 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 42 sts.

Round 14 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 5) 6 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 36 sts.

Round 15 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 4) 6 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 30 sts.

Round 16 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 3) 6 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 24 sts.

Round 17 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 2) 6 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 18 sts.

Round 18 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 1) 6 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 12 sts.

Round 19 (C1): Repeat hdc2tog 6 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 6 sts.

Leave a longer tail for sewing.

Now take the yarn needle and the tail and join all the stitches together. Fasten off.

Chain 64. Join the round into the first chain with the ss. Ch 1. Make sure you do not twist the chain before joining it.

Round 1 (C1): Hdc 64. Join the round with ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 64sts.

Round  2 – 4 (C1): Repeat (Fphdc into the first 2, hdc into the next 2) 16times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn.= 64 sts.

Round 5 – 6 (C1):  Hdc 64. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 64sts.

Round 7 – 9 (C2): Hdc 64. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 64sts.

Round 10 -15 (C1):  Hdc 64. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 64sts.

Round 16 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 6) 8 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 49 sts.

Round 17 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 5) 8 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 42 sts.

Round 18 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 4) 8 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 35 sts.

Round 19 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 3) 8 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 28 sts.

Round 20 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 2) 8 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 21 sts.

Round 21 (C1): Repeat (hdc2tog, hdc into next 1) 8 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 14 sts.

Round 22 (C1): Repeat hdc2tog 8 times. Ss. Ch 1. Turn. = 7 sts.

Leave a longer tail for sewing.

Now take the yarn needle and the tail and join all the stitches together. Fasten off.

EYE

Take the black yarn (C2) and ch 2.

Round 1 (C2): Work 8 hdc into the 2nd chain from the hook. Join the round wit the ss. = 8 sts.

Round 2 (C2): Ch 1. Work 2 hdc into each stitch around. Be careful ss does not count as a st! Join the round with the ss. = 16 sts.

Round 3 (C2): Ch 1. Repeat (2 hdc into the same stitch, 1 hdc into the next 1) 8 times. Join the rund with the ss. =24 sts.

Round 4 (C4 – white): Ch 1. Repeat (2 hdc into the same stitch, 1 hdc into the next 2) 8 times. Join the round with the ss. = 32 sts.

Round 5 (C3 – gray): Ch 1. Repeat (2 hdc into the same stitch, 1 hdc into the next 3) 8 times. Join the rund with the ss. = 40 sts.

Fasten off.

1. Take the needle and some white thread and sew the eye on the hat as seen on the picture.

2. Take the Chunky weight yarn and cut around 20 18 cm long pieces.

3. Attach them on the top of the hat.

4. Take a small hairbrush and start brushing the yarn. You will get this fluffy effect.
