PATTERN

Materials

  • 3.0 mm crochet hook
  • DK weight yarn in yellow, orange, blue and white
  • stitch markers
  • yarn needle
  • scissors
  • fiberfill.

BODY

Take some yellow yarn and create a magic ring.

Round 1: Work 6 sc stitches into the magic ring.

Round 2: Work 2 sc stitches into each stitch all the way around. = 12 sts.

Round 3: Repeat ( 2 sc into the same stitch, sc into the next 1) 6 times. = 18 sts.

Round 4: Sc 18. = 18 sts.

Round 5: Repeat ( 2 sc into the same stitch, sc into the next 2) 6 times. =24 sts.

Round 6: Sc 24. = 24 sts.

Round 7: Repeat ( 2 sc into the same stitch, sc into the next 3) 6 times. = 30 sts.

Round 8: Sc 30. = 30 sts.

Round 9: Repeat ( 2 sc into the same stitch, sc into the next 4) 6 times. = 36 sts.

Round 10 – 20: Sc 36. = 36 sts.

Take some synthetic stuffing and start stuffing the body.

Round 21: Repeat ( sc2tog, sc into the next 4) 6 times. = 30 sts

Round 22: Repeat ( sc2tog, sc into the next 3) 6 times. = 24 sts.

Round 23: Repeat ( sc2tog, sc into the next 2) 6 times. = 18 sts.

Round 24: Repeat ( sc2tog, sc into the next 1) 6 times. = 12 sts.

Round 25: Repeat ( sc2tog) 6 times. = 6 sts.

Continue stuffing the body.

Now cut the yarn, leave longer tail for sewing and join all 6 sts together with the yarn needle.

Secure the end.

WINGS

Take some yellow yarn and create a slip knot. Chain 2. Start in the 2nd chain form the hook.

Round 1: Work 8 hdc stitches into the same stitch. Join the round with a ss. Be careful, ss is just a joining stitch and does not count as a stitch.

Round 2: Work 2 hdc into each stitch all the way around. Skip the slip stitch from the previous round and join the round with a slip stitch. Fasten off.

Repeat the process for the second wing.

Fold the wings on half. Now glue or sew the front part of the semicircle together and then attach it on one side of the bird.

TAIL

Take some yellow yarn and chain 8. Start in the 2nd chain from the hook.

Round 1: Work 1 sc into next 6 chains. Work 3 sc stitches into the last one. Work on the opposite site. Work 1 sc into next 5 sts. Work 2 sc stitches into the last one. Join the round with a  slip stitch. Slip stitch does not count as a stitch.

Round 2: Ch 1. Sc into next 7 sts. Work 3 sc stitches into the next one. Sc into next 7 sts. 3 sc sts into the last one. Join the round with a ss.

Work 1 sc into next 20 sts.

Now fold the tail in half and attach it on the back.

FEET

Take some orange yarn and chain 2. Start in the 2nd chain from the hook and work 6 sc stitches into the same stitch. Join the round with a slip stitch. Fasten off.

Repeat the process for the 2nd foot.

BEAK

EYES

I was using small eyes that you can glue on your item, but you can also use some safety eyes that you can secure them with a small circle on the back.
